more autonomy, and that equitable transfer policies be implemented
to address staff shortages in remote areas. Teachers should be
incentivized to work in far-flung schools, and the educational needs of
the Gujjar community must be prioritized, including the recruitment
of Gujjari-speaking teachers and the expansion of scholarships. The
study also points to the need for the timely resolution of pending
land compensation cases and delays in issuing category certificates.
Training programs for teachers should focus on practical skills and
equitable access to ensure that all educators are equipped for NEP
2020 implementation. Finally, it is essential to allocate resources
judiciously, particularly in providing language books that align with
students’ needs and preferences.
This study offers valuable insights into the implementation of NEP
2020 in District Budgam, highlighting the progress made as well
as the areas requiring further improvement to ensure the effective,
inclusive, and equitable education of all students in the district.
